Wiegert has 12 years of college coaching experience at UW-Superior, Carroll University, Marian University and Lakeland University.
As an assistant coach at Marian, Wiegert was responsible for many of the day-to-day tasks within the program as well as having a heavy hand on the recruiting trail. From 2010-11 to 2013-14, he helped engineer one of the greatest turnarounds in college basketball (4-21 overall to 22-7 overall). The 2013-14 season featured Marian winning the NACC regular season and tournament championship. The Sabres fell two points away from knocking off the number one team in the country (UW-Stevens Point) at the 2013-14 NCAA Tournament. In his eight years at Marian he assisted with the development of 16 All-NACC selections and recruited the 2012 NACC Freshman of the Year.
In addition to helping the basketball program, Wiegert was also the head coach of the women’s and men’s tennis programs, worked in the undergraduate admission office and information technology at Marian. He guided the Sabres women’s tennis team from a one-win season in 2014-15 to an 10-9 mark in 2015-16. The program reached the NACC Tournament semifinals from 2016-18. The program defeated a UW institution (UW-Stevens Point) for the first time in school history. During his four years as head coach, he recruited four All-NACC selections and the 2017 NACC Freshman of the Year.
Wiegert played college basketball and in August of 2015, he earned his master's degree in Sports Management from Lasell College.
